God's Lavish Grace Part 12 - Free to Serve Him Joyfully
In this excerpt from Terry Virgo’s series of talks on God’s lavish grace, he helps us see what joyful, grace-fueled service toward God looks like. Here, he says:
"There are two Sauls in the Bible. One of the last things the Saul in the Old Testament ever says is, ‘I have played the fool.’ He has wasted his life and he is one of the most tragic figures in the Bible. Then you have the Saul of the New Testament. He says, ‘I have run the race and I have fought the fight, and there is laid up for me a crown.’ Even Jesus dying on the cross, the author of Hebrews tells us, was ‘for the joy that was set before him.’ He was looking forward to a reward.
Grace isn’t there to make us lazy. It sets us free from drivenness and guilt and shame - but it also invites us - come on now, let’s serve Him with all our hearts. Let’s be zealous for God. God has taught us to breathe the fresh air of our acceptance in grace.”
